My Story — From Risk Analysis to China Sourcing

I’m Irene, the founder of IreneSourcing.
I have over 10 years of experience in finance and more than 2 years of experience in international e-commerce.

This background shapes how I approach sourcing today.
Sourcing is not about finding the cheapest factory.
It’s about making informed decisions before money is committed.

My Story

I’m Irene, the founder of IreneSourcing, who has 10+ years experience of Finance, 2+ years experience of International E-commerce & Sourcing.
I was born into an engineer’s family during the rapid rise of Chinese manufacturing. From an early age, I was surrounded by factories, production lines, and discussions about how things are made. That environment sparked a lasting curiosity—not just about products, but about how industries function, scale, and sometimes fail.
Instead of limiting myself to engineering or manufacturing in a single field, I chose a broader lens: finance. Finance gave me the ability to analyze companies and industries with rigor—understanding not only how products are made, but whether a business model, management structure, and risk profile truly make sense.
2013
Foundation: An Engineer’s Curiosity, Strengthened by Financial Discipline

From 2013 to 2020, I lived, studied, and worked in Shanghai and New York City, two global business hubs. During this period, I developed two skills that now define my sourcing philosophy:
  • The ability to communicate clearly across cultures, eliminating misunderstandings before they become costly mistakes.
  • The discipline to break down unfamiliar industries quickly, identify risks early, and turn complex situations into structured, actionable decisions.
These skills would later become the foundation of how I approach sourcing.
2020
Hands-On Experience: Due Diligence Where It Actually Happens
After earning my master’s degree in 2020, I joined a top-500 Chinese enterprise and later a Fortune Global 500 company, working in investment and financing. My role was not limited to spreadsheets or conference rooms.
I spent years conducting on-site due diligence across China, traveling extensively through Guangdong, Jiangxi, Yunnan, and other manufacturing regions.
My work covered a wide range of industries, including:
  • Consumer goods (tea, coffee, cosmetics)
  • Industrial materials (rare earths, bulk metals, ceramics)
  • Large-scale infrastructure and manufacturing projects
Each project required deep investigation into:
  • Production capability and efficiency
  • Supply chain stability
  • Management execution and integrity
  • Financial transparency and risk exposure
Many factories were located far from city centers, requiring hours of travel. But being physically present mattered. Real risks—and real strengths—rarely show up in online listings or polished presentations.
This experience shaped a core belief I carry into sourcing today:
  • Risk is not something to react to after problems occur.
It must be identified and controlled before money is committed.
2023
Transition: From Investment Risk to Supply Chain Execution

As global supply chains began to shift and traditional Chinese industries faced increasing pressure, I saw both challenges and opportunities.
Around 2023, I moved into cross-border e-commerce, helping a factory launch its self-designed electronic products in North America and Australia. This gave me hands-on exposure to the full product lifecycle:
  • From concept and supplier selection
  • To sampling, quality control, logistics, and compliance
  • To customer feedback and post-sale problem resolution
For the first time, I experienced sourcing not just as an analyst—but as an operator responsible for real orders, real customers, and real consequences.
This experience revealed an important truth: while China’s supply chain remains one of the most powerful in the world, foreign buyers often struggle not because of price or capacity—but because of communication gaps, unclear expectations, and unmanaged risks.
At the same time, I recognized another reality: building a global consumer brand as a Chinese native requires deep localization and long-term brand investment. Rather than forcing that path, I chose to focus on where I create the most value.

Why IreneSourcing Exists
IreneSourcing was founded to solve a very specific problem:
Helping foreign brands source from China with clarity, confidence, and control.
We act as a neutral, China-based extension of your team, bridging the gap between foreign buyers and Chinese manufacturers.
Our approach is built on three principles:
  • Risk-first thinking — verify before you pay
  • Structured execution — clear steps, visible deliverables
  • Aligned incentives — we grow only when your business grows
We do not own factories, and we do not push suppliers for hidden commissions. We work for you.
Our fee structure is simple and transparent. Our success depends on repeat orders, long-term cooperation, and your sustained growth—not one-off transactions.
Clients choose IreneSourcing because we help them:
  • Reduce sourcing risks before they become expensive problems
  • Communicate clearly across language, culture, and manufacturing norms
  • Make faster, better-informed decisions
  • Find suppliers that truly fit their product, quality, and scaling goals
When issues arise—and in manufacturing, they sometimes do—we focus on solutions, speed, and accountability, not excuses.
Looking Ahead
My long-term vision goes beyond sourcing individual orders.
I aim to:
  • Become a true growth partner for selected brands
  • Support product development, scaling, and long-term supply chain optimization
  • Apply financial discipline, operational experience, and on-the-ground execution to increasingly complex challenges
If you’re looking for a sourcing partner who values risk control, clarity, and execution, we’re ready to provie a simple, safe and swift service!

Hands-on Experience in Cross-Border E-commerce

In late 2023, I moved into cross-border e-commerce operations and participated directly in execution, working across day-to-day operational and coordination tasks.

My Mission

Make importing from China easy

Before starting IreneSourcing, I spent years working in roles where risk awareness, due diligence, and execution discipline were non-negotiable.

In finance, a wrong assumption can cost millions.
In international e-commerce, a poorly executed product launch can damage or even destroy a brand.

What I repeatedly saw in China sourcing was not a lack of factories,
but a lack of people who could truly connect trust, risk control, and on-the-ground execution.

Too often, sourcing looks like this

Those gaps are why I built IreneSourcing. We are deeply familiar with the Chinese sourcing process and have been building a verified supplier database for years — so you don’t have to start from scratch.

My Role & Positioning

I am not a factory.
I don’t own one.
I don’t receive commissions from suppliers.

My role is to act as your local execution and risk-control partner in China.

Whether you are launching a new product or scaling an existing supply chain,
IreneSourcing represents your interests on the ground.

What Makes Me Different

Because I’ve worked across finance, e-commerce, and sourcing, I understand

  • How sellers think about margins, inventory, and timing

  • Why unclear specifications lead to disputes

  • How misaligned expectations create production problems

  • How to detect fraud signals

  • How to reduce information asymmetry

  • How to apply structured analysis to complex decisions

  • Chinese business practices, including unspoken ones

My Approach

1. Strategic Partner & Execution Hub

Acting as an extension of your team, we manage sourcing from start to finish.

  • Single point of contact

  • Local execution in the Pearl River Delta

  • Clear communication across cultures

2. Trust & Alignment

We work exclusively for you.

  • No hidden factory commissions

  • Transparent pricing

  • Long-term alignment

3. Structured Risk-Control Approach

  • Early risk identification

  • Supplier vetting

  • Specification confirmation

  • Production checkpoints

  • Pre-shipment inspections

  • Local issue resolution

Professional Background in Finance & Risk Control

I was trained in finance and risk management starting in 2013, working in environments where precision, due diligence, and accountability were non-negotiable.

Over the years, I led and participated in complex projects involving multiple stakeholders, strict compliance standards, and high-value decisions.

My core experience includes

  • Business due diligence and background verification

  • Contract negotiation and deal structuring

  • Multi-stakeholder project coordination

  • Risk assessment before capital deployment

This experience built a mindset that prioritizes structure, transparency, and risk control over speed or shortcuts.

We always encourage our clients to compare our quotes with those they receive from other suppliers before selecting our service plans. Over 90% of them choose our Pro Plan because we consistently offer the most competitive prices.

What Makes Us Unique

Quality assurance

We place a strong emphasis on product quality. We conduct thorough inspections of products before we ship them out. And we are the only sourcing company that provides 1-by-1 product inspections to minimize the defect rate to 0.

In-house production department

Although we are a sourcing company, we have our own production department capable of handling tasks that many factories are unable or unwilling to do. These tasks include product repackaging, bundling, eCommerce preparation, dropshipping, and fulfillment services.

Professional sourcing team

Our company has over 100 employees, each with years of experience in China sourcing across a wide range of products. In contrast, most other sourcing agents have smaller teams of fewer than 10 people with expertise limited to specific categories.

Special support for growing businesses

For large-scale or rapidly expanding companies, we offer a range of tailored additional services. This includes assigning a team of up to 20 people, offering credit payment options, and more.

Steve Chou , the founder of MyWifeQuitHerJob , an inspiring online educational platform, is also a million-dollar seller. He trusted us to be his sourcing partner for wedding supplies and also highly recommended us to his audience.

Success Stories

eCommerce aggregators , including one of the largest Amazon aggregators, hired us to find new suppliers, and manage the supply chain of some of their acquired stores. (Aggregators acquire successful eCommerce sellers and consolidate them to achieve economies of scale.)

BabyBlendy is an innovative baby bottle company. We are the support behind their revolutionary electric bottle featuring a patented built-in blender that ensures convenient and efficient feeding. We took care of the sketching, massive production, and packaging.

Many established eCommerce companies choose us as their supply chain solution for their extensive SKU count. These companies, from countries such as the US, Hungary, Lithuania, and the Czech Republic, make annual purchases worth millions of dollars.

eCommerce educational institutions such as Private Label Mastery and Rainmaker are also our long-term partners. We help their students launch business with reduced risks and accelerated growth.
